History

My name is Marilyn Knowlden and I’ve had an amazing and wonderful life.

It started with having fabulous parents. I owe everything to them for all they taught me and how much they loved me — but the very unique gift they gave me, that I’m still enjoying — they took me for an interview for a Hollywood movie. I got the part! And the rest, as they say, is history. I then proceeded to have an incredible Hollywood experience that led me to some of the top movies produced at the time. Being so young, I didn’t always understand what was going on, but I did know that it was so much fun!

But little did I imagine, all these many years later, that there would be a renaissance of appreciation, not to mention redistribution of the movies I was in, most of which many of us assumed were long gone.

Now I’m happy to let everyone know that I’ve written down

many interesting and exciting stories from that Golden Age of

Hollywood that surrounded me. My viewpoint was unique,

seeing it all through the eyes of a child. And that’s why I called

my book “Little Girl in Big Pictures” and it’s available now!

When I was just a little girl, my sweet Mother began keeping a

scrapbook filled with clippings, pictures, and anything else she

found that related to her daughter from anywhere in the world.

Some are credited, some aren’t. But the book has always been

a treasure to me, as she lovingly highlighted my name wherever it appeared.

What a joy, because now my daughter has taken that same scrapbook, digitized those memories of that time long ago, and created this website. So now I want to share these pages with you, as they also represent rich cultural history of times almost forgotten. There are lots of stories related to many of these scrapbook clippings, but those you’ll find in my book!

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this historical walk through my Mother’s eyes, of the adventures of her young daughter, and the magic of those Golden Years of Hollywood.
